“The fist is visible, the strike is invisible.”
Cha Chuan is a popular style of Kung Fu in Northern China. It is famous for centuries due to its beauty and grace as well as its
effectiveness in combat. Two highly regarded Wushu Masters, Hua Zongqi and Cha Yuanyi developed this style. The system they
created was called Jiazi Quan at first, but when the two masters died, their followers named the art into two styles, Cha Chuan and
Hua Chuan.
Cha Chuan contains ten forms. Some of the forms are long but most them are comparatively short. The characteristics of Cha Chuan’s
movements are graceful, clear, continuous and rhythmic. The execution of force and strength are quick, and the use of energy is
economical.
This style of Kung Fu stresses the usage of both hands and feet at the same time in executing the movements. Different techniques
and moves are combined to facilitate continuous attacks. Today Cha Chuan is still as popular as it was hundred years ago.
