“Without the mind, the body is useless.”
Hua Quan, also known as China Style Boxing, originated in Shandong Province. Cai Mao is said to be the father of this style of Kung Fu.
Although Cai Mao is the known founder of this style, Cai Tai and Cai Gang were the ones that develop the present day Hua Quan. Cai
Wanzhi then put the finishing touches on the art by writing a book on the Hua Quan’s secrets and by spreading it around China.
In many ways the development of Hua Quan is a great example of how deeply family traditions run in China and the important role these
traditions have had in developing its culture as well as Martial Arts. Hua Quan was first developed during the Tang Dynasty around
713-741 and was finished and spread around China during the Ming Dynasty around 1522-1566.
Hua Quan is characterized by its smooth, well-connected movements. Its techniques are executed with lightning speed and its stances
are steady as a rock. Hua Quan practitioners breath deeply to spread air flows throughout the body.
