“The thorn defends the rose and harms only those who would steal the blossom.”

Hung Fut was created in 1700s by a Shaolin Monk named Wu Lei. A student of Hung Hei Goon, the founder of Hung Gar, Wu Lei combined the powerful style of Hung Gar he learned with the flowing soft style of Fut Gar he mastered in Shaolin Temple. Wu Lei combined the best techniques from the two Southern Chinese systems of Kung Fu into one and named it Hung Fut.

Crossing Stance Hung Fut has the low, strong stances and fierce hand techniques found in Hung Gar as well as the relaxed, internal movements of Fut Gar. The Hung Fut system is a style unique in its incorporation of linear, circular, and angular techniques that results in movements that are powerful and explosive, yet precise, flowing, and without stiffness.

There are many training forms in Hung Fut. The complete Hung Fut system contains forms of 10 animal styles, 25 classical weapons, 8 drunken immortal forms, 4 cripple forms, and a left-hand fighting form. These forms teach self-defense while developing speed, power, and endurance.

Today Hung Fut remains dynamic and diverse system. It is unique on its own because of its emphasis on left-hand fighting techniques, which make it easier for a Hung Fut practitioner to surprise an opponent. Hung Fut stands out among most styles of Martial Arts because of its combination of power, speed, beauty, and practicality.
